No Sex, No Booze, We're Off to Church: Gen Z Has Found God

This is a fascinating article from a secular writer who grew up in what has been called the "Millennial Generation". She explores the mind set difference between the, and what has come to be called "Gen Z", those who are teenagers to 28 years old.

It is undeniable that Gen Z is more open to spiritual matters. What is happening in Brittain is also happening in the US. A couple of friends and I were talking this week about how evangelism among Millennials for years was a struggle against atheism and agnosticism, replete with apologetics arguments for the existence of God. With the college students we work with, this is no longer the prevailing sentiment. Most assume the existence of God and aren't really invested in naturalism as an explanation for how the world works. As my friend said, they're wrestling with how does their relationship the church fit into the grand scheme of things and is there meaning behind suffering in life. They don't wrestle with the problem of evil as far as whether God can exist, they wrestle with the idea that God can redeem and give purpose to the evil they see around them.

The money quote that gets to the heart of this change is this: "Why does she think more Gen Z peers are considering religion? “We’re always called the hopeless generation. We’re dealing with so many mental health problems, and online culture has fuelled comparison on another level. It’s driving people to burnout. I think once they hit that place of, ‘I have tried and I am still not good enough,’ that’s when people are turning to Christianity.”

Y'all. Let's be ready with gospel hope for the refugees of secularism that are inevitably coming our way!
