His Happiness Was Out of the Reach of His Enemies

This morning in the sermon from Psalm 23:5 I mentioned how Jonathan Edwards was fired from his church after pastoring there 20 years (and after being the human catalyst for the First Great Awakening).

It's really a shocking story, and it above all shows the importance of having regenerate church membership. But how Edwards handled it is the thing that caught my eye this week as I considered what it meant for the Lord to "prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies".

I hope this account encourages you as much as it did me. I have linked to two articles on what happened.
